Nashoba Lacrosse

The 2012 Boy's Program

MBYLL Program: Massachusetts Bay Youth Lacrosse League Teams. Aimed at boys in grades 3 through 8, this program will continue to follow the traditional MBYLL approach of level teams. This program will offer one or possibly two weekly practices, and eight (8) games on Sundays, plus the potential of tournaments or end-of-season Jamboree. Levels are organized by organizing by grade – U11 is for 3rd and 4th graders, U13 is for 5th and 6th graders, and U15 is for 7th and 8th graders. (Note: any 3rd grader must be somewhat experienced and capable of running on a full lacrosse field.) The U11 group will have a minimum of six (6) games and the U13 and U15 groups will have a minimum of eight (8) games.

Developmet Program:  Internal Nashoba Youth Lacrosse Program. Designed for K, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade boys with the goal of teaching the fundamentals of the sport while striving to maximize player enthusiasm and a love for the sport. The Development program will be “low-key”, emphasizing fun. The Development will practice 1 or 2 times per week for 1 to 1½ hours. Practices will be structured primarily in a “station format” with all kids receiving equal instruction. Any games will be “small ball”. The benefit of this format is that it will maximize the number of "touches" that each kid has with the ball thereby improving skill development.

Age Classification Levels:

U15 is for 7th and 8th graders. To be eligible a player must not have reached his 15th birthday by January 1st of the current season, and not be in high school

U13 is for 5th and 6th graders. To be eligible a player must not have reached his 13th birthday by January 1st of the current season.

U11 is for 3rd and 4th graders. To be eligible a player must not have reached his 11th birthday by January 1st of the current season.

Development Designed for K, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade boys with the goal of teaching the fundamentals of the sport while striving to maximize player enthusiasm and a love for the sport. This level is not intended to be involved in league play. It is to be self contained within Nashoba Youth Lacrosse and older beggining players can be eligible with board approval.

For More than one team in an age group, make every possible effort to balance the talents levels of the teams, (i.e. There should be no A teams and B teams)
